LAKE MANYARA TREE LODGE

OFFICIAL CATEGORY (MINISTRY OF TOURISM CLASSIFICATION): 5 *****

LAKE MANYARA TREE LODGE

LOCATION: The Tree Lodge is situated in the remote southern tip of Lake Manyara National Park. The Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is located about 2 hours from the Manyara park gate. Tarangire and Arusha are both located about 3.5 hours from Lake Manyara Tree Lodge though in opposite directions. Add about 1 hour to get from Arusha to Kilimanjaro.

DESCRIPTION: Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is set in the heart of a mahogany forest, and is the only lodge in the diverse Lake Manyara National Park in northern Tanzania. It is the newest addition to CC Africa’s portfolio of luxury safari lodges on the northern Tanzanian safari circuit.

luxury safari lodges

From soaring groundwater forests and a tranquil lake, to the mountain escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National Park boasts an incredible wealth of habitats and diverse African wildlife. Guests are offered an exciting, interpretive safari experience in game-rich surrounds which include large herds of elephant and buffalo. The Lodge, which was designed to exert minimal impact on the environment, is situated in the remote southwestern region of the Park.

NUMBER OF ROOMS: Cradled in the boughs of mahogany trees, 10 stilted tree house suites are a sophisticated blend of intimacy and romance, offering privacy and exclusivity in cool, leafy surrounds.

ROOM AMENITIES: Each tree house suite features large windows to invite the lush forest inside. The classically elegant rooms are fitted with contemporary furnishings in neutral colours and textures. Bedrooms have overhead fans, mosquito nets and earthy, understated features

ROOM DECOR: The rooms are very spacious and bathrooms are especially well done with large bathtubs and even an outdoor shower. Furnishings and decorations are contemporary and abstract. Each tree house has its own private viewing deck with a comfortable sitting area and spectacular forest views. Falling asleep surrounded by the noises of the jungle will surely be one of the highlights for guests. Service is also second to none as your own private butler is on call for the duration of your stay to mix martinis or serve dinner on your private veranda.

Campsite

Special Feature: Lake Manyara is a beautiful little park made famous by its tree-climbing lions. The park is home to an amazing variety of birds and animals considering its small size. A visit to this serene park will greatly diversify your safari experience as the lush green jungle habitat is of stark contrast to the other parks.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE FACILITIES: Overlooking a forest boma (outdoor dining area), guest areas are soaring spaces housing Dodoma artworks and tactile fabrics. An interactive kitchen allows guests to observe the preparation of delicious Pan-African cuisine which may be enjoyed in the theatrical boma, on dining decks, or on your private viewing deck with spectacular forest views. Breakfasts and picnics are also served on the lakeshore. The food and Tree Lodge is simply excellent. Breakfast is very good and is usually served buffet style in the open dining terrace. Breakfast consists of a large assortment of fruits, cereals, breads, and eggs served to your order. However, if you wish, your butler is happy to serve you either breakfast in bed or on your private veranda. The best option for lunch is to arrange a private picnic down by the lakeshore where hopefully there is lots of hippo action and thousands of flamingos. Alternatively, lunch is also offered at the lodge but we highly recommend opting for a serene picnic. Dinner is quite a production and a fairly formal affair. Once again, you always have the choice to have a more private and romantic meal in the comfort of your room or on your private veranda. There is a good variety of beer, wine and cocktails available .

GENERAL FACILITIES: There is a magnificent open-plan guest area with an intimate and cozy atmosphere overlooking the forest boma, with enough seating for 20 people. Dodoma carvings, African artefacts and sumptuous fabrics and prints are framed by banana-fibre ceilings and wood-panelled walls. There is also a stylish lap pool and a crafts gallery, which features a good selection of community craftwork.

RECREATION ACTIVITIES:
? Private game drives
? Picnic lunches
? Excellent birding
? Sundowners
? Private candlelight dinners
? Lap pool
? Crafts gallery.

CLIMATE: Tropical conditions with the plateau being relatively hot during the day and cool at night. During the months of June and September, it is much cooler.
