CTM 203 - Mount Kilimanjaro
Trekking - 7 Days - Umbwe Route
 
Day 1 Nairobi – Moshi
Leave Nairobi for Moshi Town, the base of Mount Kilimanjaro,
by shuttle bus arriving in the mid afternoon having
taken lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at a Moshi
hotel.
Day 2 Arusha – Umbwe
After breakfast transfer to Marangu Gate and onto Umbwe
village to start the climb. The ascent will take 4 hours
through a rain forest to a camp next to caves located
2,800m above sea level.
Day 3 Umbwe – Baranco Hut
After a breakfast continue along a sharp ridge, giving
a distinct high mountain feeling, onto the moorland
camp arriving at Baranco Hut at 3,900m, mid afternoon.
Dinner and overnight at Baranco Hut.
Day 4 Baranco – Arrow Glacier
A 4 hours walk past an enormous breach walls to a camp
at the foot of Arrow Glacier. A leisurely afternoon
and evening, acclimatizing at 4,900 whilst enjoying
the spectacular sunset behind Mt. Meru.
Day 5 Arrow Glacier – Kili
Crater
Climb the same steep scrambling up the screes and across
the frozen lava onto the tottering wall. Set up camp
on the stunning crater rim of Kilimanjaro.
Day 6 Crater – Kibo Hut
This is the day you will trek up the highest point in
Africa Uhuru Peak at 5,895m. descend via Gilmans point
and Kibo Hut at 3,700m. Dinner and overnight at Kibo
Hut.
Day 7 Kibo Hut – Nairobi
After breakfast leave for Nairobi by the morning shuttle
bus where your tour ends.
