CTM 201 - Mount Kilimanjaro Trekking - Marangu
Route - 7 Days
At 5895, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest,
as well as the youngest, of the three volcanic
peaks of East Africa, Mount Kenya 5,199 m and
Elgon 4,321m being the other two. Their oldest
lava may be only some 1 Million years old, and
small-scale activities on the Kibo peak has
probably taken place within the last couple of
hundred years. Kilimanjaro is a "Central Vent"
type of Volcano, which gives it an oval shape in
plain view. This is one of the easist mountan to
do your trekking advetures. Most trekkers make it
to the uhuru peak the highest point of Mount
Kilimanjaro.

Day 1 Arusha – Moshi
Drive to Moshi after break fast where the rest of
the day will be spent preparing for the climb the
following day.
Day 2 Moshi – Mandara
Hut
After breakfast drive 45kms to Marangu gate at an
altitude of 1,860m. Walk 9kms through dense
semi-tropical rain forest to Mandara Hut at
2,744m. All meals and overnight at Mandara Hut.
Day 3 Mandara – Horombo
Hut
Early morning start with 10-hour walk toward
Horombo. The landscape becomes rockier with both
Mawenzi and Kibo peaks in full view. Dinner and
overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 4 Horombo – Kibo
Hut
Continue your climbing to Kibo Hut, which will
take 6 hours. Kibo Hut stands at 4,732m above sea
level. Spectacular mountain vegetation such as
giant cacti groundswell and lobelia grace the
scenery. All meals and overnight at Kibo Hut.
Day 5 Kibo Hut – Horombo
Hut
The final attempt to the summit is made in the
early hours of the morning at 02.30hrs. It takes
about 5 hours of trekking the steepest and most
difficult part of the route to Gilman’s Point at
5,681m in time to watch the spectacular sunrise.
After signing the visitors’ book continue to Uhuru
Peak at 5,896m, thereafter returning to Horombo
Hut for dinner and overnight stay.
Day
6 Horomb – Moshi
After breakfast walk down to Marangu for your
transfer, dinner and overnight in Moshi.
Day 7 Moshi – Arusha
After breakfast drive to Arusha for lunch.
Thereafter transfer to the air port and extend
your safari to Ngorongoro futher to serengeti at
an extra cost.
