CTM 201 - Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing - Marangu Route - 7 Days

Day 1 Nairobi – Moshi
Pick up and transfer to Namanga border arriving latest 10.00hrs. meet our Tanzanian counterpart and continue to Arusha for lunch. Continue to Moshi where the rest of the day will be spent preparing for the climb.

Day 2 Moshi – Mandara Hut
After breakfast drive 45kms to Marangu gate at an altitude of 1,860m. Walk 9kms through dense semi-tropical rain forest to Mandara Hut at 2,744m. All meals and overnight at Mandara Hut.

Day 3 Mandara – Horombo Hut
Early morning start with 10-hour walk toward Horombo. The landscape becomes rockier with both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks in full view. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.

Day 4 Horombo – Kibo Hut
Continue your ascent to Kibo Hut, which will take 6 hours. Kibo Hut stands at 4,732m above sea level. Spectacular mountain vegetation such as giant cacti groundswell and lobelia grace the scenery. All meals and overnight at Kibo Hut.

Day 5 Kibo Hut – Horombo Hut
The final attempt to the summit is made in the early hours of the morning at 02.30hrs. It takes about 5 hours to climb the steepest and most difficult part of the route to Gilman’s Point at 5,681m in time to watch the spectacular sunrise. After signing the visitors’ book continue to Uhuru Peak at 5,896m, thereafter returning to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 Horomb – Moshi
After breakfast walk down to Marangu for your transfer, dinner and overnight in Moshi.

Day 7 Moshi – Nairobi
After breakfast drive to Arusha for lunch. Thereafter transfer to Namanga border where your driver / guide will be on hand to receive you and transport you back to your hotel in Nairobi.

CTM 202 - Mt Kilimanjaro Hiking - 7 Days Machame Route

Day 1 Nairobi – Machame
Pick up from your Nairobi hotel and drive to Namanga border where our Tanzanian counterpart will be on hand to take over the tour. Drive to Machame Gate and walk through the forest to Machame Hut at 3000m. Dinner and overnight at Machame Hut.

Day 2 Machame – Shira Hut
After breakfast cross the valley and continue along the steep ridge going on to rock ridges and through heather. The route turns west into a river gorge leading to Shira Hut at 3800m. Dinner and overnight at Shira Hut.

Day 3 Shira Hut – Baranco Hut
After breakfast continue towards Kibo, passing the junction then east towards the Lava Tower. You will then climb down to Baranco Hut at 3,940m shortly thereafter.

Day 4 Baranco – Barrafu Hut
From Baranco a steep rocky climb up the Baranco Walls on through to Karanga Valley with a final stop at Barrafu Hut at 4,600m. Dinner and overnight at Barrafu Hut.

Day 5 Barrafu Hut – Mweka Hut
An early start to for the summit, first to Stella Point and onto Uhuru Peak at 5,895m then begin your descent via the Mweka route. Dinner and overnight at Mweka Hut.

Day 6 Mweka Hut – Arusha
Continue down to Mweka Gate and meet up with your driver / guide for the drive to Arusha where you will enjoy a steaming hot shower before dinner. Overnight at a hotel in Arusha.

Day 7 Arusha – Nairobi
After a well-earned rest and a hearty breakfast depart for Namanga border where our driver will be on hand to pick you up and drop you at your hotel.

Day 1 Nairobi – Arusha
Leave Nairobi for Arusha by shuttle bus arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon spent at leisure and shopping for provision for the climb. Dinner and overnight at an Arusha hotel.

Day 2 Arusha – Umbwe
After breakfast transfer to Marangu Gate and onto Umbwe village to start the climb. The ascent will take 4 hours through a rain forest to a camp next to caves located 2,800m above sea level.

Day 3 Umbwe – Baranco Hut
After a breakfast continue along a sharp ridge, giving a distinct high mountain feeling, onto the moorland camp arriving at Baranco Hut at 3,900m, mid afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Baranco Hut.

Day 4 Baranco – Arrow Glacier
A 4 hours walk past an enormous breach walls to a camp at the foot of Arrow Glacier. A leisurely afternoon and evening, acclimatizing at 4,900 whilst enjoying the spectacular sunset behind Mt. Meru.

Day 5 Arrow Glacier – Kili Crater
Climb the same steep scrambling up the screes and across the frozen lava onto the tottering wall. Set up camp on the stunning crater rim of Kilimanjaro.

Day 6 Crater – Kibo Hut
This is the day you will trek up the highest point in Africa Uhuru Peak at 5,895m. descend via Gilmans point and Kibo Hut at 3,700m. Dinner and overnight at Kibo Hut.

Day 7 Kibo Hut – Nairobi
After breakfast leave for Nairobi by the morning shuttle bus where your tour ends.
