DESCRIPTION:
The luxurious Katavi Wilderness Camp is situated in
a location with flood plains and fringed woodland that
is teeming with wildlife, offering good photographic
opportunities.
looks east across the Chada plains, right in the heart
of Katavi National Park.The true wonder of Chada Katavi
awaits when you venture out to meet the animals face
to face. From Chada Katavi you can take your pick from
game drives in open 4 wheel drive vehicles, walking
with an armed guide, fly camping out for the night under
the stars or simply enjoying soaking it all up from
your tent veranda.The camp itself is very much a traditional
tented camp, refreshingly simple, comfortable and elegantly
hosted. With a maximum of 12 guests in camp at any time,
you are guaranteed as much privacy and isolation as
you wish.

LOCATION: Katavi
Wilderness Camp is set in the extremely remote Katavi
National Park. Although 120 000 people visit the northern
parks annually, less than 200 reach Katavi National
Park, which is reputed to be one of the wildest places
on earth.
NUMBER OF ROOMS:
There are 6 double traditional safari tents with complete
privacy, unrivalled views and large comfortable beds.
ROOM AMENITIES:
Private bathrooms are set at the rear of each tent and
can easily be connected by a screen when required. Long
drop toilets, traditional safari 'bucket showers' and
washstands, with pitchers of hot and cold water set
out the front of each tent, give this camp a genuine
safari feel.The bucket showers hang under trees in each
tent's thatched bathroom.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE FACILITIES:
Food is deliciously fresh and hearty. Supper, served
in the mess tent, is often frequented by a curious old
elephants. Lavish picnic breakfasts, brunches and lunches
are laid out under shady trees.
RECREATION ACTIVITIES:
Lake Katavi and Lake Chada boast one of the largest
population of Hippo and Crocodile and the floodplains
provide a habitat for an abundance of waterfowl. Its
vast size, infinite grassland plains, isolation and
inaccessibility have meant that herd sizes are huge
and it is not unknown to see up to 1600 Buffalo at once!
Lion, and other predators, wait along the fringed woodland
to ambush the game as it returns to the woodland for
shelter at sundown. There's nowhere else like it!

- Fly-Camping: With lightweight, Bedouin camp-tents,
just mosquito nets and bedrolls, with a small camp staff
and guide. You can go for one, or many more nights at
a time, depending on how absorbed you want to be!
