CLIMATE: South
Tanzania has a very mild climate, without intolerable
extremes: all is regulated by the rains, which also
make the difference in the colours and animals encountered.
During the period of heavy rains (March to the end of
May) a visit is inadvisable as the roads are often impassable
and the animals have little motive to move, as they
don’t need to search for water.
The camp remains open for those who wish to arrive by
air and enjoy boat trips.
During the rest of the year the climate presents no
difficulty and the choice depends on personal taste.
In the dry season (June, July, August,
September and October) the need for water drives the
animals towards the river and they are easy to see.
The sky is blue, the grass dry, and the colours are
yellow toned. The climate is hot and dry during the
day and cold at night (wool blankets are provided).
In the intermediate season (November,
December, January, and February), Nature is at the height
of her splendour; the grass is green, the deciduous
trees are full of leaves, flowers and fruits, and many
mammal species have young.
Green is the prevalent colour.
The sky clouds over easily during the hot hours of the
day but it seldom rains. It is hot during the day, with
a peak between 2 and 4 in the afternoon, and cools off
during the evening and at night.
Normally in the evening the clouds will disappear to
present an unforgettable sunset.
There is no difference in the seasons
as far as mosquitoes are concerned: they are extremely
rare thanks to the perfect ecological equilibrium of
the zone.
This does not exempt our visitors from an adequate anti-malarial
treatment for security.
