DESCRIPTION: From the distant road and from the air as you approach Le Mirage Desert Lodge and Spa, the three lodge buildings built largely from local rock materials, form a natural part of the desert environment totally in harmony with nature. The architecture takes on the ancient sensibilities of African rondavel design of centuries past that allow for aeration in a hot climate, fused with Moroccan palatial designs. Upon entering the buildings, an air of refreshment hits you, foyer gardens, the wide imposing corridors and supporting pillars add to the allure of this desert castle’s mystic. The exceptional detail not to disturb the fragile desert environment is remarkable. It is a sight to behold. The food at Le Mirage Lodge and Spa is divine. Lunch at the restaurant is always a light and satisfying affair, served in the cool confines of the restaurant, against the harsh elements of the desert.
The restaurant boasts a selection of stellar wines and bar to complete the dining experience. Dinner conjures up a sense of romanticism, as the stars gaze down below the landscape and the hotel staff serenading the guests, the sumptuous fare is that much more enjoyable. RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES: Le Mirage Lodge and Spa offers the adventurous traveller, the natural charms of the Namib Desert. Nothing beats the sheer thrill of quad biking up a dune, negotiating a rocky path and standing aloft a hillock, purveying the land that nature has perfected. Quad bike tours are available from the Lodge, with experienced guides at hand to trek with guests on nature drives on Le Mirage’s private domain. If quad biking is too risqué a proposition, there’s the option of nature drives to Sossusvlei. The Sossusvlei can also be gazed upon from a scenic flight or a hot air balloon. This playground is the ultimate fix for the true adventurer and the fix begins with the stay at Le Mirage Lodge and Spa.
