AMBOSELI / TSAVO WEST
WILDLIFE SAFARI (6 DAYS)
1st DAY: Our representative
will meet you on arrival in Nairobi for a transfer
to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time we will
organize a half day tour of the city of Nairobi, which
covers the colourful City Market with its wide
variety of curios, the Parliament Buildings, the Railway
Museum, and the National Museum, next to which is the
Snake Park is located. Overnight in Nairobi.
2nd DAY: This morning,
you begin your safari by driving down to the border
between Kenya and Tanzania. Your destination is Amboseli, a
park famous for large herds of elephant and its
spectacular view of Mt Kilimanjaro; Amboseli is also
famous for buffalo, antelope and the occasional hippo.
3rd DAY:
After an early breakfast, head for Tsavo West via the
spectacular "Shaitani Lava Flow". En-route,
you may buy a goat for the evening's Nyama Choma (open
fire barbeque) Party. Tsavo is Kenya's largest
game park and home to the infamous man-eating lions
that preyed on linesmen during the building the Uganda
Railway at the turn of the last century. Afternoon game
drive, dinner and overnight at your Lodge.
4th DAY: Take a drive
to the crystal clear waters of Mzima Springs. With
luck, you will see "moon walking" hippo from
the safety of the underwater glass observation tank.
Also scheduled is a visit to the Shaitani Caves
to experience the pitch darkness. Back to the lodge
for lunch. Afternoon at leisure by the swimming pool
of the Lodge, or alternatively, you may choose
to go on a game drive to the Rhino Sanctuary, weather
permitting.
5th DAY:
After breakfast, a last game drive and lunch en-route
to Nairobi where you arrival in the evening. Dinner
tonight will be at the Carnivore Restaurant, the
one place not to miss out on. The Carnivore is renowned
for its steaks and wide variety of barbecued game
meat. This is an excellent place to complete your safari.
Overnight in Nairobi.
6th DAY: Relax on the
hotel grounds or go shopping in the bustling metropolis
that is a center of commerce in East Africa in preparation
for your trip home. Optional activities can also be
arranged and these include short trips to nearby destinations
such as the Sheldrick Elephant orphanage, the Giraffe
Manor, the Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi National Park and
many more. A transfer will be provided from your
hotel to the airport for your departure.
Mt KENYA-SAMBURU RESERVE-LAKE
NAKURU-LAKE NAIVASHA-MAASAI MARA (8 Days)
1st DAY: A representative
of Claudious Tours and Safaris will welcome you upon
arrival in Nairobi for a transfer to your hotel, where
he will check you in and give you a briefing about
your itinerary. Depending on your arrival time,
today we will also organize a half day Tour of
the city of Nairobi that covers the City Market,
Parliament Buildings, Railway Museum, and the National
Museum, next to which the Snake Park is situated.
Overnight in Nairobi.
2nd DAY:
After breakfast, begin your safari by driving through
the plains towards the Samburu Game Reserve which lies
at the edge of the semi-desert climate of Northern Kenya,
arriving in time for lunch. An afternoon camel
game ride will introduce you to the unique wildlife
of this area, such as the reticulated giraffe, grevy
zebra and the Somali ostrich. Dinner and overnight at your
lodge.
3rd DAY: Today you spend the Full day
at the park taking your game drives through this hazy
but beautiful reserve, which has abundant game especially
along the fringes of the Uaso Nyiro river, which flows
gently through this dry landscape. Afternoon at
leisure- you may wish to relax the poolside. Overnight
at the lodge.
4th DAY: After breakfast, drive into
the Rift Valley through the Northern tip to Lake
Nakuru. Enjoy thehuge bird concentration as well as
other game while on your game drive. Depart for you
overnight at Lake Naivasha.
5th DAY: Depart very
early in the morning for Maasai Mara arriving in time
for lunch. Spend the afternoon exploring the Great
Plains and sights of the wildlife found here. Dinner
and overnight at the lodge.
6th DAY: A full day
is spent in the Maasai Mara with game drives. In
the course of the day, you will visit the hippo pool
and possibly a Maasai Manyatta (homestead.) Overnight
at the lodge.
7th DAY: After
an early morning game drive and breakfast, you begin
your journey to Nairobi. After an afternoon at leisure,
dinner tonight is at the Carnivore Restaurant, the
one place not to miss out. The Carnivore is renowned
for its steaks and wide variety of barbecued game
meat, this restaurant is an excellent place to complete
your safari. Overnight in Nairobi.
8th DAY: Relax, or shop in preparation
for your trip home. Optional activities are available
on request. Transfer to the airport for your departure
flight.
